Differences between Water Gas Pipeline and Galvanized Steel Pipe

Influences of Steel Strip's Geometric Dimensions on Steel Pipe's Quality

How to ensure the quality of high frequency welded pipe in the process of production? We should take the effects of roll adjustment into consideration, except that, we also need to consider the geometric dimensions of steel strip.

When the width of the steel strip is less than the allowable deviation, the squeezing force of the welded steel pipe will be reduced, which will cause the welding of the steel pipe loose, and cracks or open-end pipe will appear. When the width of the strip is greater than the allowable deviation,the squeezing force will be increased when the steel pipe is welded, which will cause tip, welding or burr welding defects appearing on the weld of the steel pipe. Therefore, the fluctuation of the strip width not only affects the accuracy of the steel pipe's outer diameter, but also seriously affects the surface quality of the steel pipe.

About the steel pipe that requires the same section wall thickness difference does not exceed the specified value (that is to say the uniformity of the steel pipe wall thickness is high), the fluctuation of strip thickness will transfer the allowable value that exceeds the thickness difference of one steel strip to the wall thickness difference of finished steel pipe, which will waste a large number of steel pipe for the thickness of the pipe exceeds the allowable deviation. Thickness fluctuations not only affect the thickness accuracy of the finished steel pipe, at the same time, the difference of steel strip's thickness will cause the extrusion pressure and welding temperature are instability while the steel pipe in the welding, which will result in welded steel pipe weld quality instability.

In addition, the existence of interlayer, impurities, trachoma and other material defects in the interior of steel is also an important factor to affect the quality of steel pipe .

Therefore, before welding the steel strip , we should check the surface quality and geometric size of each steel strip. For the steel strip that the quality does not meet the standard requirements, we shouldn't carry out production to avoid unnecessary losses.

Four Techniques of Roll Adjustment When Changing Roll

We've mentioned that roll adjustment had a great influence on ensuring the quality of high frequency welded pipe in the process of production, so now we can talk about techniques of roll adjustment when changing roll.

1) Replace the steel pipe specifications, we generally replace a complete set of roll. Roll adjustment method is: use a wire to pull a centerline from the unit inlet to the outlet, and make the molding line to meet the technical requirements. After changing the roll specifications, we need to make a comprehensive adjustment for forming roller, guide roller, squeeze roller, sizing roller firstly, and then focus on the adjusting the closed hole of forming roll, guide roller, squeeze roller.

2) The role of the guide roller is to control the direction of the pipe seam and tube's bottom line height, ease the edge of the extension, control the rebound of the edge of the tube, ensure that the pipe straight without turning into the squeeze roller. Such as the guide roller adjustment is not good, it is easy to cause steel pipe seam torsion, lap welding, waving deformation around edges and other welding defects in the steel pipe welding process.

3) The squeeze roller is the key equipment of the welded pipe unit, its role is to make the pipe body which the edge of had been heated to the welding temperature to complete the pressure welding under the pressure of extrusion roller. In the production process, wo should control the size of the extrusion roll opening angle. When the extrusion pressure is too small, the weld metal strength will decrease, and it will crack when it is forced; When the extrusion pressure is too large, the welding strength will be reduced and the outer-burr amount will be increased, it will be easy to result in lap welding and other welding defects.

4) In the slow turning starting sequence of the welded pipe unit, we should pay close attention to the bearing rotation of the various parts of the roll, and adjust the roll at any time to ensure that the welding pipe welding quality and process size in line with the requirements.

Intro to Hot Dip and Cold Galvanized Steel Pipe

Galvanized pipe can be classified into two kinds: cold galvanized steel pipe and hot dip galvanized steel pipe. The former has been forbidden, and the latter has been advocated temporarily in China.

1. Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Pipe

Hot dip galvanized steel pipe is to make the molten metal react with iron substrate so as to produce alloy layer so that the substrate can be combine with coating combination. Hot dip galvanized steel pipe is first taken acid pickling in order to remove iron oxide on the surface of the steel tube. After acid pickling, clean up in the tank of ammonium chloride or zinc chloride or ammonium chloride and zinc chloride mixed aqueous solution, and then sent to the hot dip plating tank. Hot dip galvanized has the advantage of uniform coating, strong adhesion, long service life, etc.

Steel substrate react complex physically and chemically with molten electrolyte solution, and then form into zinc-iron alloy layer with the compact structure of corrosion resistance. Pure zinc alloy layer, alloy layer and steel substrate are integrated with each other. So, its corrosion resistant ability is extremely strong.

2. Cold Galvanized Steel Pipe

Cold galvanizing is electricity galvanizing, but the galvanized quantity is very few about only 10 g to 50 g per square meter. Its corrosion resistance ability is weaker than that of galvanized pipe. Regular galvanized steel pipe manufacturers mostly do not use electric galvanized zinc (cold galvanized) in order to guarantee the quality. Only those small enterprises with small scale and old equipment adopt electric galvanized zinc. Of course, the price is relatively cheaper. Petro China and Malaysia has sighed Sabah Natural Gas Pipeline Project
